Web 2.0 101 Blog Post for Week 8

This weeks topic was on Mashups and API and is the last week of the Web 2.0 101 class for MLA.

I took a look a variety of mashups on http://programmableweb.com/ . I found them to be interesting. One mashup I found was Free Influencer http://www.we-love-the.net/FreeInfluencer/. This mashup showed the influence of various people on other people through out history. Karl Marx was one of the people heavily weighed that has influenced a lot of people. Another mashup I found was a Lord of the Rings interactive Google map. I mentioned this to my husband and he told me about a World of Warcraft interactive Google map. The ideas for mashups are endless.

The other part of the exercise for this week was to take a look at http://rollyo.com/explore.html a website that allows you to create your own set of sites to search through. Gabe created a searchroll on librarianblogs to have us use to search for the topic of privacy. I found this to interesting too. A way to narrow searches down by customizing the sites that are searched.

Technology has come a long way and has a long way to go.
